Your Network = Your Own Personal Board of Directors

Pamela Bradley
HR Manager, Talent Development
Keiter CPAs and Consultants

Many people look at networking as an annoying necessity, something they only do when they need a job. If this describes your networking approach, you are missing out on one of the joys of a professional career. The network you cultivate can be one of the most empowering parts of your work life. You can surround yourself with people who are passionate about the same things you are, who are genuinely fun to talk to, and who know the types of opportunities you want to receive. This fun and interactive session will be about more than networking skills. You will begin crafting your ideal future, and then you will learn skills that will help you build your own professional “board of directors” to help you reach your goals.

You will learn, and then practice:

  • Preparing for a networking event
  • Teaching your name to others so that they remember you
  • Learning others’ names
  • Feeding a conversation to build your brand
  • Ending a conversation gracefully

Pamela Bradley is the HR Manager of Talent Development at Keiter CPAs and Consultants, responsible for driving Keiter’s Talent Development and Performance Management processes. Leadership – Emotional Intelligence

Kenneth M. Moss, MSM, Ph.D.
Program Director, Business Studies
Bryant & Stratton College

Currently, it is critical that organizations be led by effective leaders that have the competencies that will engender organizational success. Whenever an organization is in crisis leaders must step to the front and guide the organization to safe harbors. Imagine what would happen if the leader were deficient in key skills and competencies. For example, during the time of an organizational crisis, the leader displays low tolerance for stress, cannot connect with the team, begins to drown in a sea of self-doubt, or becomes indecisive. Leaders that know how to manage their emotions will perform better in the face of organizational crises and challenges than those who are emotionally unstable. By using emotional intelligence leaders can better manage the crisis, methodically process the initial reaction, think through the impact on the members of the organization, craft a more intentional response and communicate the response in a measured way.

You will learn:

  • The elements of Emotional Intelligence and its definition.
  • The relationship between Emotional Intelligence and leadership.
  • Methods to increase Emotional Intelligence in leaders.
  • How leadership theory has evolved to models that recognize the role of emotions.
  • How to interpret Emotional Intelligence profiles of successful and not-so-successful leaders.

Dr. Kenneth M. Moss is the Program Director of Business Studies at Bryant and Stratton College. Before this position, he served as a principal faculty member teaching leadership and management courses at Saint Leo University, University of Maryland Global Campus, Virginia Union University, and University of Phoenix-Richmond Campus.

With over twenty-five years of management and organizational leadership experience, he is known as an expert in mentoring, emotional intelligence, management, and organizational leadership. He is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), International Leadership Association (ILA), and Society of Emotional Intelligence (SEI). The Capstone of his professional career includes retirement from the United States Army after twenty years of distinguished service.

In addition to his work in academia and the military, he served as a career consultant for Right Management, the world’s largest consulting firm, and was the owner of Strategic Leadership Development Group, a career and leadership consulting firm. While with Right Management, he provided career transition services to displaced executives, conducted entrepreneur development training, leadership development, and career management coaching. Generally, his private clients received the same services along with Emotional Intelligence training and development. His research interest includes mentoring, emotional intelligence, and leadership development.

Dr. Moss holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Organizational Leadership and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Organizational Leadership from Regent University, Virginia Beach, Virginia. He earned a Master of Science degree in Management Science from Troy University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Columbus State University. RESET – and Introspective Lens Theme: The Great Resignation and The Great Reset Summary

Turqueya Williams (Vincent)
Chief Excellence Officer
People ROI LLC
Freelance HR & Leadership Consultant

Over the last couple of years our nation has seen tremendous peaks in employee resignations and resets, respectively. The health crisis of 2020 sent our world into a mental dis-ease. Work-Life balance became essential to human survival. Today, more than ever, we need employers who lead with empathy and human-centric methods. Where no ‘balance’ seems possible, the response has been resignation – in various forms. Displeased employees- submitted letters of separation and others set boundaries on how little they would engage while remaining at work. Lacking a sense of belonging at work leads to resignation and or disengagement, but it does not have to. Let us focus on how an introspective “reset” adds value to ourselves and our workplaces. Value: This session will help attendees act on their own “leadership brand.” Instead of asking “what’s in [this job] for me” take initiative to “add value” to yourself and use this growth mindset to catapult your confidence, performance, and overall value.

Turqueya Williams has over 15 years combined experience in Human Capital Success and Development, Executive and Leadership Coaching, Organizational Communication Strategy and Effectiveness and broad-ranged HR and consulting services.

The Great Resignation and Future of Work: HR

Tiffany S. Fortune
Owner & Lead Consultant
TipTop HR
Consultants Consultant, Fahrenheit Advisors Human Capital Group

We didn’t expect the future of work to come so quickly, the shift to hybrid, remote work and the emergence of virtual workplaces forced us to adapt. We have gone from workplace/workspace to work mode. In order to thrive today our mindset needs to shift. From reactive to proactive. From following to being self-led and self-driven. From focusing on the left side of the brain kind of skills, where we move in a sequential order and process information in a linear manner, to right-brain creativity and big picture, holistic thinking, problem-solving and clarity. As the future of work takes shape, C-suite executives are turning to HR to help them navigate the world of hybrid work, win the talent war caused by the Great Resignation and ensuing labor shortage, improve commitment and action on social justice and sustainability, do something about the mental health and wellness, ensure inclusion of a diverse workforce, and make sure everyone is having a good time while achieving results. This moment presents a unique opportunity for HR leaders to shape the future of work in ways not previously considered. In this session we’ll go over three future of work emerging practices that we need embrace to combat The Great Resignation and our role in helping keep up with the changing landscape and organizations culture in the coming years.

  1. Employee value proposition (EVP)
  2. Employee upskilling and reskilling - talent accelerator
  3. Data-driven HR and people analytics
