The Membership Committee represents the heartbeat of our chapter. As a professional association, RSHRM exists to serve our members. With a total membership approaching 1200, serving our stakeholders effectively is a big job. This Committee focuses their efforts on improving the member experience, growing the membership, and welcoming new members.

Number of volunteers needed 10
 Reports to VP, Member Engagement (Board position) via Director of Member Engagement
Qualifications Richmond SHRM member preferably with a passion for the organization and a desire to recruit and develop members
 Skills Developed Leadership, teamwork, organization, coordination, networking, knowledge about RSHRM and professional associations
 Approx. Hours per Month 3.2
 Annual Hours

Annual Planning Session: 2
Monthly Meetings: 10 (1 hour)
Answering questions for potential and new members: 6
New member outreach: 6
Host and attend new member events quarterly: 8
Promoting RSHRM membership benefits via web postings, social media, and email blasts: 6

This Committee typically meets annually to develop an annual plan and briefly each month to share ideas and success, network and strategize about upcoming events.

The Membership Committee will develop a sustainable and effective program to welcome, on board, and mentor new members; effectively assimilating new members into the organization. The goal will be improved member retention. Outreach to potential and new members may include phone calls, welcome notes, ordering and distributing new member gifts, planning and executing approved/budgeted events such as “new member” socials, possible recognition events, etc.

The Committee will develop, recommend, and execute approved plans to grow the chapter.

Committee members will also work with the RSHRM Volunteer Coordinator on placement of new volunteers.
