Veterans served our country, now it’s our turn to serve them! RSHRM’s commitment to collaborating with community partners to place veterans in the workplace is one of the foundations of our dedication to leadership in the community.

Number of volunteers needed 5
 Reports to Strategic Alliances Director (Board Position) via Veteran’s Activities Committee Chair
Qualifications Richmond SHRM member, prefer those passionate about placing our veterans in the workplace.
 Skills Developed HR knowledge, leadership, teamwork, organization, coordination, networking, writing/ communications
 Approx. Hours per Month  3.0
 Annual Hours

Annual Planning Session: 2
Quarterly Planning Sessions: 4 (1 hour per quarter)
Interaction with Veteran’s Affairs and organizations promoting veterans such as Virginia Values Veterans: 6
Provide answers for area employers and members on veterans’ issues. This includes developing content on the RSHRM website: 6
Represent RSHRM at RVA events such as job fairs that promote veterans in the workplace: 8
Updating chapter members via web postings, social media, and email blasts: 6
Various conference calls or ad hoc meetings: up to 4 (allows for 1 hour per quarter)

This Committee typically meets annually to develop an annual plan and briefly each quarter to plan collaboration efforts for the following quarter.

Committee members will build a rapport with collaborative partners such as Veteran’s Affairs, a state agency, as well as their affiliate organizations (example: V3) working to place veterans in the workplace. The Committee will represent RSHRM by attending RVA events promoting veterans in the workplace. Committee members will provide content to build a veterans focused page for RSHRM’s web site. Committee members will submit relevant articles quarterly for placement in RSHM’s social media and e-blast newsletters. The Committee will also act as a resource to area employers and RSHRM members in sharing information on veterans in the workplace.
