Gretchen Flynn Morris, GPHR, SHRM-SCP

Gretchen Flynn Morris is an Instructor and the Director of Strategic Management for Academic Programs for the University of Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies. In addition to her administrative role, she teaches undergraduate courses in Human Resource Management, International HR and Global Leadership. Prior to her current role, she served as Interim Undergraduate Chair and the Director of the Human Resource Management Academic programs.

Before moving to the University of Richmond, Gretchen held various HR management roles including HR Director for Springbok Services and Senior Manager roles in corporate and International HR for Teletech Corporation. Gretchen has been an active member of Richmond SHRM since 2008 and served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Business Partnerships and as the VP for Professional Advancement. Gretchen is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and earned her International MBA from the University of Denver. She is SHRM-SCP certified and is also certified as a Global Professional in HR through HRCI.

Eva Hartmann, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR

Eva has more than 15 years of experience as a strategic, results-driven and innovative leader with significant expertise in human resources strategy, talent and leadership development, training, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. Eva has acquired experience in a variety of industries, from manufacturing to Fortune 500 consulting. She has been recognized as a change agent who has developed strategic programs and talent development initiatives in multiple challenging environments, and is passionate about enhancing both individual and organizational performance.

Eva is the founder and President of Trellis, LLC, a firm specializing in Organizational and Human Performance consulting. Prior to Trellis, Eva was the Global Human Resources Director for Tredegar Film Products, a global manufacturer of plastic film products, and was responsible for the HR Strategy and Operations for a $600 million global division. Before working in the Films Division, Eva served as the Corporate Leader for Talent and Leadership Development for Tredegar Corporation. Eva has also held a variety of leadership and manager roles in Human Resources and Quality functions at several nationally and globally-recognized companies including Wachovia Securities, Genworth, Sun Microsystems and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Eva holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Eva has held a number of community leadership and/or volunteer roles with the Junior League of Richmond and the First Book Greater Richmond Local Advisory Board. Eva is a graduate of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2009.

Ken Robertson, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, IPMA-HR

Ken Robertson, SPHR, IPMA-HR, retired from the Virginia Retirement System in 2018 where he was the Human Resource Director. Previously, Ken was the HR Director at the Virginia Employment Commission and also served in various human resources positions at the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Ken spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army, primarily in human resource management. He has a MS from the Naval Postgraduate School, an MBA from the University of Richmond, and his undergraduate degree is from Washington State University. Ken is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and has an IPMA-CP designation.

Ken was the Virginia Chapter President of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) for three years. He has been an active volunteer leader in Richmond SHRM serving as Vice-President-Community Leadership, Chair of the Sterling Workplace Awards, and in workforce development roles.

Pamela Bradley

Pamela Bradley is a Human Resources Manager at Keiter CPAs, responsible for driving Keiter’s Learning and Organizational Development Program. In her current role, Pamela builds and manages the Succession Planning, Executive Performance and Compensation, and Performance Management processes. She developed an award-winning program on Business Networking Skills, and launched an executive coaching program at the Firm. Pamela has co-authored the article “Raising Rainmakers” for the Journal of Accountancy, and regularly speaks to groups on the topic of business etiquette. Prior to joining Keiter, Pamela was an accountant at Circuit City Stores. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development from The George Washington University.

Dena Wengert, SPHR, SHRM-SCP

As Director of Human Resources at Williams Mullen, Dena oversees strategic HR initiatives and helps sustain an employee-oriented, high-performance culture. In 2015 she was named an “HR Strategist of the Year” by Richmond SHRM for her work in applied engagement strategy to “build culture, increase diversity of thought and connect all these elements to performance and rewards.” Dena earned her B.S. in business management from Penn State and holds SPHR® and SHRM-SCP™ certifications. She is an active member of Richmond SHRM, the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and the Council for Human Resources Executives (CHRE). Dena also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Business Leadership Network (VABLN), an organization dedicated to providing businesses with resources and advice on employing people with disabilities.

Rachel Griggs, CPA


Rachel Griggs, CPA, has over eight years of experience providing clients with accounting and auditing services. She has spent those years at Cherry Bekaert LLP where she currently works as an Audit Manager in the Richmond Practice. Rachel serves clients in multiple industries, with a main focus on employee benefit plans and real estate. She holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Accounting from James Madison University. Rachel also serves on the Junior Achievement Young Professionals Board.

Carol Ann Irby, MS, SHRM-SCP, SPHR

Carol Ann has held human resources roles at Virginia Commonwealth University since 2008. For the past four years, she has served as the Executive Director of Human Resources for the VCU Health Sciences campus, where she managed and oversaw recruitment, compensation, employee relations, and other HR functions for the Health Sciences campus. In 2019 she will be the Talent Acquisition Program Director in VCU Human Resources. In this newly created role, she will lead efforts to discover, design and execute a VCU talent acquisition function that is fully responsive to customer needs, including building out an executive search function; development and delivery of search committee training; and thought and project leadership for refinement of VCU employment brand. Carol Ann is very involved in Richmond SHRM, and for the past two years has led the HR Strategic Impact Award Committee. Carol Ann holds a BS in Sociology with a minor in Psychology from VCU, and an MS in Business with a Concentration in HR Management from VCU.

Julie Vargo


Julie Vargo is a is a two-time alumna from VCU. Her post-baccalaureate degree is in Human Resource Management. She has worked in the Human Services and Accounting fields during her career. Over the past six years she has held positions of increasing authority while working as an HR Generalist. As a Change Agent she sees issues as opportunities and is always working to improve efficiencies and productivity through new development strategies. Julie recently joined Stiles Ewing Powers as their Firm Administrator where she handles all facets of business administration for the family law firm.


Julie has been presenting the New Member Onboarding events and is excited to be growing with Richmond SHRM as a Director. Richmond SHRM is a wonderful place to network, learn, earn certification credits, and become more involved with HR and Finance Professionals, Benefits Resource Partners, and Workforce and Economic Development Leaders in the community.

Wes Seaton

Wes Seaton works for the workforce development division for the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). Wes has worked in the human services field since 1992 and understands that skilled, dependable and productive employees are important to business success. As an agency dedicated to increasing employment opportunities to people with disabilities, DARS serves as a vital link in connecting employers with hiring needs to skilled and talented workers with disabilities who are actively seeking employment. Wes currently markets business services to local businesses in the metro-Richmond area that focuses on: staffing and recruitment, workplace accommodations, disability awareness training, incumbent worker training and financial tax incentives.

Wes has been involved with workforce development and programming for more than 25 years. A graduate of West Chester University in Pennsylvania, Wes obtained a double major in Anthropology and Sociology in 1992.Wes is a graduate of the Commonwealth of Virginia Skills for Leadership Program, Chesterfield County Total Quality Improvement Program, and Chesterfield County Institute of Leadership. Wes also serves as the Business Solutions Coordinator for the region IX workforce board. Wes has also serves on community boards and steering committees for organizations in the Richmond area (Virginia Business Leadership Network, Commonwealth Workforce Network and the Society for Human Resource Management

Vivian Addotey

Vivian Addotey is a transplant in Richmond. After graduating from the University of Windsor (Canada) she worked in the news media with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), in advertising, and as a freelance writer. She was published in The National Post. In Richmond, she worked in Finance (Wells Fargo, Bank of America), and then in Human Resources at AECOM, Virginia Retirement system, Virginia State Police and most recently at VDOT. She is currently pursuing the PMP certification. Vivian serves on the board of a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water in rural villages in developing nations. No stranger to Richmond SHRM, Vivian previously served on the Richmond SHRM Board of Directors as the Director of Finance, and on the Strategic Planning team for RADR (Richmond Area Diversity Roundtable).

Christina Smith, SHRM-SCP

Christina Smith, SHRM-SCP is HR Administrator for Chesterfield Fire and Emergency Service (CFEMS) where she manages and provides leadership to a highly dedicated HR team and oversees all human resource related programs and projects. Prior to joining CFEMS in 2016, she served the men and women of Henrico Fire Department, Richmond Police, Emergency Communications and Fire Departments in roles that included: Personnel Officer, Recruiter, HR Consultant and Action Officer. Christina’s experience includes volunteer EMS experience with Forest View Volunteer Rescue Squad and Piedmont Search and Rescue. She served in the U.S. Army Reserves as an Intelligence Analyst. Christina earned a BAS in Human Resource Management from the University of Richmond and a MBA from Averett University. She is an active member of Richmond SHRM where she chaired the 2018 Strategic Leadership Conference (SLC) and co-chaired the SLC in 2017. Christina currently serves on the Chesterfield County Diversity Committee and the VA Office of EMS Workforce Development Committee.

Stephanie Dixon

Stephanie Dixon joined Bon Secours Mercy Health in 2014 and currently serves as Human Resources Director. In this role, she is responsible for employee relations, business partnership, change management, organizational design, and talent development. Stephanie has over 10 years of combined Human Resources and Operations experience in the areas of recruitment, compensation, benefits management, HR compliance, employee relations, HRIS, employee wellness, process improvement, project and operations management.

Stephanie earned a BS in Business Management with a specialization in International Business from Old Dominion University. In her studies she traveled to South Korea, China, and Japan. Stephanie also earned a MS in Human Resource Management from University of Richmond.

Bob Dickerson, SHRM-SCP

Robert C. “Bob” Dickerson is a Manager of Human Resources for Dominion Energy in Richmond, Virginia. Bob has worked at Dominion Energy for 37 years in a number of roles in Information Technology, Finance and Business Services, and Human Resources. He has over 25 years of HR experience at Dominion Energy working as an HR Business Partner in the Generation Division, then as Manager of HR Business Intelligence, and most recently, as a Manager of HR Business Partners in the Power Generation, Power Delivery, Gas Infrastructure, and now, the Services Company divisions. Prior to joining Dominion, Bob attended Hampden-Sydney College for several years, but chose to continue working for Dominion Energy after a summer internship, and then obtained his B.S. in Business Administration & Management at night at Virginia Commonwealth University while working full time at Dominion Energy.

Bob first became involved with SHRM activities when he obtained his SPHR in 1998. He is now SHRM-SCP certified and has continuously attended Virginia state conferences since 2008. He was a founding member of the Electric Utility HR Metrics Group steering committee in 2005 and served for 3 years on this committee. Bob is also an active member of his church, now Restoration Church in Hanover County, where he serves on the HR Team, Missions Team, and has been actively involved in Youth Ministry for over 20 years.

Denise Laman

Denise Laman, Managing Principal at Collam Consulting, LLC, uses her 25+ years of experience in strategic planning, change management, process improvement, and talent/workforce planning to help organizations and people overcome their operational and situational challenges. She is energized by working collaboratively with businesses, organizations, and individuals to create positive change.

As regional Economic Liaison for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Denise was responsible for strategic community outreach and engagement with employers, educators, government and community service organizations to build an integrated network of support for hiring transitioning Service members, Veterans and their families. She continues this talent/workforce effort, staying active in the RVA community in the areas of workforce and community engagement with non-profits, employers, educational and government organizations. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Systems Engineering from UVA.

Bryan Chenault, SHRM-CP

Bryan Chenault is the Director of Human Resources at Whitlock. Over the last seven years, he has moved Whitlock’s HR function from a two person administrative team to a full strategic arm of the organization providing both services and counsel to employees, managers and executives. As part of this evolution, Bryan introduced programs for employee appreciation, employee development, and employee retention and has created numerous internal training plans and programs for leaders. He completed his undergraduate work at Pensacola Christian College and completed his MBA in 2010 at Liberty University. Bryan is active in several local groups around development including the local ATD chapter where he leads the Leadership group, and is actively involved in Richmond’s Talent Management Forum and the Council of HR Executives. He has also been a member of RSHRM’s Strategic Impact Award since 2016. His passion is helping people, teams and organizations achieve their full potential.

Karen Elliott, Esq.

Karen Elliott is a partner with Eckert Seamans, Cherin & Mellott where she leads the firm’s Virginia employment practice. She works with clients of all sizes, from start-ups to the Fortune 1,000 in industries ranging from nursing homes, physician practices and health and rehab centers to travel and entertainment, fast food and retail. She counsels and represents clients in investigation and defense of EEOC, DOL and NLRB charges, drafting of employment contracts, handbooks and drug policies, providing coaching for terminations and management training for litigation and union avoidance. She works closely with clients to determine proper classification under the wage and hour laws, and well as whether or not the client’s independent contractor arrangements meet state and federal guidelines. She also advises clients and litigates issues relating to the numerous federal and state employment laws including Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act and unemployment issues. In response to the #metoo movement Karen has developed unique non-harassment training designed to engage companies in a collaborative responsibility process. She has been engaged to provide this training to major companies both within and outside of Virginia.

Danielle Gilbert, SHRM-CP, PHR

Danielle Gilbert is previously the Administrative Director for St. Francis Medical Center Hospital of Bon Secours Health System, Inc. Her experience over the past fifteen years in Human Resources has included Consulting, Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Entrepreneurship and Recruitment.

Gilbert holds a BS in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and two masters in Human Resources Management and Public Administration from Strayer University. She has certifications from HRCI (PHR) and from SHRM (SHRM-CP). Gilbert is currently pursuing her Ph.D.

Teri Miles, Altria Client Services, Inc.

Teri Miles is a Compliance Manager with Altria Client Services responsible for internal compliance investigations, reporting and analysis across all the Altria Companies. Previously, she was with the Office of the Virginia Attorney General and prior to that, at Circuit City as Manager of Labor and Employment. Teri received her J.D. from the University of Richmond Law School and her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College. She is a longtime member of Richmond SRHM, graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond, former past president of the MRWBA, past Chair of the READ Center, Chair of the 59th Book & Author Dinner for the Junior League of Richmond, and a former vice president and board member of SPARC.
