The Employer All Star Awards (EASA) is entering its fourteenth year! We have watched continued success and growth of the EASA program over the last thirteen years. EASA has evolved into a premier breakfast awards event, celebrating award winners and finalists in a variety of categories. EASA categories include the Employer of Choice, Employee Engagement, Community Involvement, Workforce Development, Diversity Excellence, and the National Sloan Foundation Awards for Workplace Flexibility.
Due to the tremendous success and continued growth of EASA, a Task Force formed last year to review the award categories and processes of the program. Bob Kelley and Thomas Quinton, from Pure Culture and Media Pond, volunteered to undertake the process of designing a questionnaire and interviewing representatives from past Richmond area participating organizations, non-participating organizations, and other SHRM Chapters who have similar awards programs. The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce and other respected awards programs in the Richmond area were also included in the interview process.
In November 2011, Bob and Thomas presented a summary of the interview results, including a series of recommendations, to the Richmond SHRM Board and many of the EASA Task Force members. The EASA Task Force is using the November 2011 findings as a guide to present final recommended changes to the Richmond SHRM Board in March 2012. The Task Force has looked at the type of awards, the number of awards, the venue, the time of the year and day, the name of the event, the criteria for the awards, the judging process, the award recognition strategies, the master of ceremonies, marketing and branding. In other words, a top to bottom review. The Task Force has notified the Richmond SHRM Board that the revitalized and re-branded event will not occur until 2013. However, a Launch Party is in the works for 2012, to announce the details of the revised awards program and event, including inviting all past EASA inviting award winners and volunteers who have made the past thirteen Employer All Star Awards program a success! Stay tuned for more details in future Richmond SHRM and Greater Richmond Chamber announcements.
