Executive Director

Jeannie Alcott

In 2009, Jeannie Alcott became the first Executive Director of Richmond SHRM. Her unique background blends corporate, higher education, and Association Board experience. Jeannie began her career with IBM and spent 15 years in various management and marketing positions. She later served as an adjunct professor at the University of Richmond’s Robins School of Business where she taught Organizational Behavior and Organizational Change. Most recently she co-founded Any Day Gourmet, a small specialty food enterprise.

Alcott has held various Board positions and volunteer leadership positions with area organizations, including the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, the READ Center where she was President of the Board, the University of Richmond Alumni Association, the Steward School, and the Junior League of Richmond. She holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, and a Masters from the University of Virginia.

Communications Manager

Patricia Villa

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Patricia Villa has been working with public entities and association groups for approximately twenty years. Her background covers many communication paths, including lobbying, speech-writing, public relations and association management. She has held various positions, most recently Communications & Program Director at the Virginia Transit Association. There, she spearheaded all aspects of communications, including event management, membership coordination and sponsorship campaigns with the Commonwealth’s transit systems and business partners. Prior to this, she was the Legislative Liaison and Communications Coordinator for the Richmond Regional Planning District Commission.

Karen Baker

After graduating from Virginia Tech, Karen began a career as a Program Supervisor for an Adult Day Services Center in Richmond, VA. In 2007 she decided to stay at home with her first child, but continued working and volunteering on the side. For the last 4 years Karen has held multiple leadership positions with her church's MOPs (Mothers of Preschoolers) group, worked as a Program Coordinator for New Kent County's Parks and Recreation Department, and became an independent sales consultant with Thirty-One. She holds a B.S. in Human Development from Virginia Tech.
