President
Ken Robertson, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, IPMA-HR, Virginia Retirement System


Ken Robertson, SPHR, IPMA-HR, is Human Resource Director at the Virginia Retirement System. Previously, Ken was the HR Director at the Virginia Employment Commission and also served in various human resources positions at the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Ken spent over 20 years in the U.S. Army, primarily in human resource management. He has a MS from the Naval Postgraduate School, an MBA from the University of Richmond, and his undergraduate degree is from Washington State University. Ken is a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and has an IPMA-CP designation.

Ken was the Virginia Chapter President of the International Public Management Association for Human Resources (IPMA-HR) for three years. He has been an active volunteer leader in Richmond SHRM serving as Vice-President-Community Leadership, Chair of the Sterling Workplace Awards, and in workforce development roles.

Summary: Assures management accountability for the Chapter.

Tammy H. Cummings, Royall & Company


Tammy is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University and brings over twenty years of experience to her position as VP, HR with Royall & Company. Formerly, Tammy served as Principal with Mercer and Senior Vice President and Director of the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond where she and her team won Richmond’s Employer of Choice Award for Diversity for two years. Before joining the bank, Tammy served as Corporate Vice President of Human Resources for two other Richmond-based companies. Her experience spans a variety of industries including global consumer manufacturing, retail, building materials and telecommunications, and financial services.

Summary: Provides counsel to the President and other Board members.


Director - Communications/Secretary
Emily Birchfield, Capital One

Emily Birchfield is a member of the Card HR Learning Team at Capital One. Prior to moving to Richmond and joining in 2010, her career background started and grew on the West Coast. Her experience spans a variety of disciplines including Human Resources, Marketing, Employee Onboarding and Referral programs, and Project Management, applied in start up to Fortune Industry Leading businesses including Disney, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Aramark. Emily is active and engaged in social media channels, web design / development, all while embracing new ways / technologies to grow and stay connected in the ever changing digital world we live in. She has facilitated sessions on using LinkedIn and Social Media tools to optimize the Job Hunt in the Richmond community.

Summary: Manages internal and external communications activities for the Board and directly responsible for internal communications.


Director - Finance
Brett Sinsabaugh, CPA, Keiter


Brett Sinsabaugh, CPA, is a Business Assurance & Advisory Services Senior Associate with Keiter in Glen Allen, Virginia. He provides audit and business assurance services to privately-held businesses in a variety of industries including real estate and construction, manufacturing, and retail. In addition, Brett works with not-for-profit organizations such as foundations, private schools, and associations. He is a member of Keiter’s Employee Benefits team and works closely with human resource professionals in performing audits of employee benefit plans. Brett is also a member Keiter’s Real Estate and Construction industry team and shares his industry-related accounting insights in the Firm’s blog and e-newsletter. He is actively involved in Keiter’s Future Leaders Group, a group of young professionals that collaborate on business development and personal brand building.

Prior to joining Keiter, Brett spent several years working in the construction industry as an Assistant Safety Director for a large Richmond based general contractor. This role involved management of jobsite compliance with federal and state safety standards, corporate representation with Department of Labor compliance enforcement, and serving as a trainer for industry related safety and health topics. Brett applies his prior experience and understanding of the construction industry, to provide accounting opportunities and insights to his clients in the industry.

Brett is a graduate of Christopher Newport University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, concentrating in Criminology, and Virginia Commonwealth University with a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting.

Summary: Manages and accounts for all monies received and disbursed to support the Chapter’s operations.


Vice President Member Engagement
Jessica Powell, Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle PC

Jessica Powell is HR Director at Hancock, Daniel, Johnson & Nagle PC. Prior to joining HDJN, she was Manager, HR Business Solutions at Sheltering Arms Physical Rehabilitation Center, and prior to that, corporate recruiter with Apex. Jessica has served on the Richmond SRHM board for the past two years,and as the Chair of Richmond SHRM’s Social Media committee and the Sterling Workplace Awards committee. She received her BS from Indiana University South Bend where she served as President of the Student Chapter of SHRM.

Summary: Responsible for the strategic oversight of member engagement.


Director Member Experience
Christy Pratt, PHR, SHRM-CP, Powell Orthotics and Prosthetics


Christy Pratt, PHR, is General Manager at Powell Orthotics and Prosthetics. Prior to this, Christy was with Sitter and Barfoot Veterans Care Center, Richmond Tooling Inc., Chesterfield United Soccer Club and McMurry University where she was the head women’s soccer coach. In 2014, Christy served as the Chair of the Conference Committee for Richmond SHRM. She holds a B.S. from the University of South Carolina Aitken, and an MBA from Hardin-Simmons University.

Summary: Manages services and engages members and potential members of the Chapter.


Director Member Interests
Dana Clark, SHRM-CP, PHR


Previously, Dana was the Human Resources Director for Mango Salon where they achieved 2015 Finalist for Sterling Workplace Award, 2015 & 2017 Top Workplace Awards and the 2014 Sloan Award. She has a MS from VCU in Counselor Education and a BA from Guilford College. Dana’s specialties are coaching, talent management, engagement, and serving others through skill development. As a Richmond SHRM Volunteer, Dana has served as Co-Chair of both the Sterling Workplace Awards Committee and the Volunteer Registration Committee.

Summary: Responsible for the management of Richmond SHRM’s SIG’s (special interest groups).


Vice President Professional Advancement
Gretchen Flynn Morris, GPHR, SHRM-SCP, University of Richmond


Gretchen Flynn Morris is the Interim Undergraduate Chair and the Director of the Human Resource Management Academic programs for the University of Richmond’s School of Professional and Continuing Studies. In addition to her administrative role, she teaches courses in International HR and Global Leadership and leads groups of adult students on overseas short-term study abroad courses. Prior to her role at the University of Richmond, she held various HR management roles including Human Resource Director for Springbok Services and Senior Manager roles in corporate HR and International HR for Teletech Corporation. Gretchen has been an active member of Richmond SHRM since relocating Richmond in 2008 and served on the Board of Directors from 2012-2013 as the Director of Business Partnerships. Gretchen is a graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman’s College and received her International MBA from the University of Denver. She is SHRM- SCP certified.

Director of Collaborative and E Learning
Vivian Addotey


Vivian Addotey is a transplant in Richmond. After graduating from the University of Windsor (Canada) she worked in the news media with Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), in advertising, and as a freelance writer. She was published in The National Post. In Richmond, she worked in Finance (Wells Fargo, Bank of America), and then in Human Resources at AECOM, Virginia Retirement system, Virginia State Police and most recently at VDOT. She is currently pursuing the PMP certification. Vivian serves on the board of a non-profit organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water in rural villages in developing nations. No stranger to Richmond SHRM, Vivian previously served on the Richmond SHRM Board of Directors as the Director of Finance, and on the Strategic Planning team for RADR (Richmond Area Diversity Roundtable).

Dena Wengert, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Williams Mullen


As Director of Human Resources at Williams Mullen, Dena oversees strategic HR initiatives and helps sustain an employee-oriented, high-performance culture. In 2015 she was named an “HR Strategist of the Year” by Richmond SHRM for her work in applied engagement strategy to “build culture, increase diversity of thought and connect all these elements to performance and rewards.” Dena earned her B.S. in business management from Penn State and holds SPHR® and SHRM-SCP™ certifications. She is an active member of Richmond SHRM, the Association of Legal Administrators (ALA) and the Council for Human Resources Executives (CHRE). Dena also serves on the Board of Directors of the Virginia Business Leadership Network (VABLN), an organization dedicated to providing businesses with resources and advice on employing people with disabilities.

Director Monthly Learning Events
Pamela Bradley, Keiter


Pamela Bradley is a Human Resources Manager at Keiter CPAs, responsible for driving Keiter’s Learning and Organizational Development Program. In her current role, Pamela builds and manages the Succession Planning, Executive Performance and Compensation, and Performance Management processes. She developed an award-winning program on Business Networking Skills, and launched an executive coaching program at the Firm. Pamela has co-authored the article “Raising Rainmakers” for the Journal of Accountancy, and regularly speaks to groups on the topic of business etiquette. Prior to joining Keiter, Pamela was an accountant at Circuit City Stores. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Virginia, and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Development from The George Washington University.

Vice President Community Leadership
Suzanne Etherington, Mercer


Suzanne has over 20 years’ combined experience in corporate, government, and higher education leadership identifying strategic business drivers, building high performance teams and leaders, and creating solutions to enhance workforce productivity, reduce costs, and improve profitability. In her current role as a Principal and Senior Client Manager for Mercer, Suzanne partners with clients and her Mercer colleagues to identify, design, and implement innovative solutions to clients’ most complex human capital and strategic business challenges. She is an expert in change acceleration, aligning human capital efforts to business strategy and systems, executive coaching, organizational development and design, mergers and acquisitions, recruitment and movement, creating learning cultures, sales strategy and management, customer experience, and global project management. Prior to joining Mercer, Suzanne held leadership roles at CCWA, Wells Fargo, Lighthouse Real Estate, and Trigon Blue Cross Blue Shield.

At Richmond SHRM, she served as co-chair of the Sterling Workplace Awards, participated on the Employer All Star task force, and is a member of RADR. Active in the community, Suzanne has served on the Board of Directors for the Chesterfield County Chamber of Commerce and the Chief Learning Officer Business Intelligence Board. She received her M.S. in Learning and Organizational Change as well as her Executive Coaching Certificate from Northwestern University, and completed her bachelors work at the University of Richmond.

Director Strategic Alliances
Denise Laman, Collam Consulting

Denise Laman is Managing Principal at Collam Consulting, a firm that provides services to clients in various industries, including federal and state government, who are engaging in a transformation initiative such as a complex program rollout, organizational change, or business process improvement effort. Most recently, she served as the regional Economic Liaison for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. She was responsible for strategic community outreach and engagement with employers, educators, government and community service organizations to build an integrated network of support for hiring transitioning Service members, Veterans and their families. Prior, Denise worked for IBM in their Global Business Services’ consulting practice. She holds a BS in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from Virginia Tech and a Masters in Systems Engineering from UVA.

Summary: Responsible for setting strategy for community partnerships with non-HR related groups.


Vice President Business Development
Eva Hartmann, SHRM-SCP, SPHR, GPHR, Trellis, LLC


Eva has more than 15 years of experience as a strategic, results-driven and innovative leader with significant expertise in human resources strategy, talent and leadership development, training, performance management, and organizational effectiveness. Eva has acquired experience in a variety of industries, from manufacturing to Fortune 500 consulting. She has been recognized as a change agent who has developed strategic programs and talent development initiatives in multiple challenging environments, and is passionate about enhancing both individual and organizational performance.

Eva is the founder and President of Trellis, LLC, a firm specializing in Organizational and Human Performance consulting. Prior to Trellis, Eva was the Global Human Resources Director for Tredegar Film Products, a global manufacturer of plastic film products, and was responsible for the HR Strategy and Operations for a $600 million global division. Before working in the Films Division, Eva served as the Corporate Leader for Talent and Leadership Development for Tredegar Corporation. Eva has also held a variety of leadership and manager roles in Human Resources and Quality functions at several nationally and globally-recognized companies including Wachovia Securities, Genworth, Sun Microsystems and Andersen Consulting (now Accenture).

Eva holds an MBA from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA and a BA in Anthropology from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. Eva has held a number of community leadership and/or volunteer roles with the Junior League of Richmond and the First Book Greater Richmond Local Advisory Board. Eva is a graduate of the Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2009.

Summary: Responsible for all aspects of fund development and related activities to maintain the financial stability of the Chapter.


Director of Business Partnerships
Kyle Wiggins, Aerotek


Kyle Wiggins joined Aerotek in the fall 2008 after graduating Randolph-Macon College with a degree in Economics. He started with Aerotek’s Architecture, Engineering, and Construction vertical. Over the last 7+ years he’s moved from supporting A&E companies to Manufacturing Firms and now heads up Aerotek’s Engineering Staffing & Services division here in Central, VA (Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Tri-Cities, Winchester, and Harrisonburg). His primary focus is Process Manufacturing, OEM’s, Automotive, Food & Beverage, Packaging, Aerospace / Defense. Kyle’s specialties are business development, talent acquisition, and account management.

Kyle is also a member of Aerotek’s Mid-Atlantic D&I Board and is involved with RADAR, and the Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce.

Summary: Responsible for developing a strategy to develop partnerships with leading employers in the Greater Richmond area.


Vice President Diversity & Inclusion
Teri Miles, Altria Client Services, Inc.


Teri Miles is a Compliance Manager with Altria Client Services responsible for internal compliance investigations, reporting and analysis across all the Altria Companies. Previously, she was with the Office of the Virginia Attorney General and prior to that, at Circuit City as Manager of Labor and Employment. Teri received her J.D. from the University of Richmond Law School and her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College. She is a longtime member of Richmond SRHM, graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond, former past president of the MRWBA, past Chair of the READ Center, Chair of the 59th Book & Author Dinner for the Junior League of Richmond, and a former vice president and board member of SPARC.

Director of Inclusion
Danielle Gilbert, Bon Secours Health System, Inc.

 

Danielle Gilbert is currently the Administrative Director for St. Francis Medical Center Hospital of Bon Secours Health System, Inc. Her experience over the past fifteen years in Human Resources has included Consulting, Employee Relations, Compensation, Benefits, Entrepreneurship and Recruitment.

Gilbert holds a BS in Business Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, and two masters in Human Resources Management and Public Administration from Strayer University. She has certifications from HRCI (PHR) and from SHRM (SHRM-CP). Gilbert is currently pursuing her Ph.D.
